Funniest Movies of the Noughties on Satellite TV

The “noughties” as many people are calling the decade from 2000 to 2009, were an exciting decade in our history. Think Internet, iPods, UGG boots, global warming, going green, natural disasters, unprecedented wars… the list could go on for days. Along with all of this came some pretty funny movies as well. The noughties produced some hilarious comedies that had people rolling on the floor for days. These are movies that every American should see, and they are just a click away on your satellite TV.

1. Wet Hot American Summer (2001) – I doubt many people would put this as their number one, but it does make a lot of top ten lists. This cult classic kills me every time I see it, and I’ve probably seen it at least 50 times. Set at Camp Firewood in 1981, the film depicts the stories and actions of only one day, the last day of summer camp. Anyone who has ever gone to camp can probably understand the intensity of the last day of camp. All the romances and friendships are suddenly put in jeopardy as campers and counselors are required to leave the fun life of sports and crafts all day for the life of school. “Wet Hot” follows the hilarious drama of the counselors and campers, which includes everything from love triangles to kids who won’t shower to deadly pieces of NASA’s Skylab hurling towards earth to talking vegetable cans. The most hilarious part of this film occurs when the counselors take a quick run into town. I won’t spoil it for you though; you just need to see it!

2. The Hangover (2009) – This hilarious film follows four friends as they roadtrip to Vegas to celebrate the bachelor party of their friend Doug who is getting married in two days. After checking into the penthouse suite, equipped with a grand piano and multiple high definition televisions, they decide to hit the town. Next scene cuts to them waking up the next day, totally hung over with no recollection of what happened the night before. This movie will have you rolling on the floor with laughter as it follows the boys’ journey to figure out what happened the night before, and more importantly to find their friend Doug, who they lost the night before, and who is supposed to be getting married the following day.

3. Zoolander (2001) – Male supermodel Derek Zoolander had won the “Male Model of the Year” award for three consecutive years, when he is beaten by new male model Hansel. Zoolander’s world is turned upside down and he decides that there is more to life than being “really really good looking,” and decides to search for that meaning. As he is searching for meaning, fashion designer Mugatu offers him a comeback in his new “Derelicte”-line. Zoolander is very excited to make a comeback, what he does not know is that Mugatu has ulterior motives and hypnotizes Zoolander to assassinate the prime minister of Malaysia so that he can continue to hire cheap child labor to make his clothing. This colorful movie would definitely be a treat to watch in HD!
